CAPH Eden Conference 2021 has ended

Dare to be Different
This session was originally being delivered by Amjad Ali. Unfortunately Amjad can no longer join us, we are delighted that Will has been able to step in.

In this fun and humorous presentation Will Ryan will explore and celebrate what the best primary school practice looks like. Laughter will be guaranteed whilst we shape a range of ideas for the future. Using materials from his most recent book we will examine the power of teachers being prepared to take an unusual idea and run with it in the belief that it will stimulate the imagination and increase engagement. Attention will be placed on how charismatic inspirational teachers create empowered learners who find and develop their own unique talents. Additionally, some more unusual planning and assessment strategies will be incorporated that might just help to make the hairs tingle on the back of a child’s neck. The presentation will be based around a model of inside-out leadership whereby school leaders consider the question, how can I create a community where everybody thinks they can achieve, has a duty to achieve and a duty to help others achieve? From this starting point leadership becomes a verb rather than a noun because it is more about action than position. As a result, transformational change is achieved by combining strongly held beliefs about high quality education and a deep understanding of the community being served.
